Combat Mechanics

Does Warhounds Have RNG?

Yes. Warhounds does use RNG for shooting, but it exposes that randomness one projectile at a time and combines it with physical bullet trajectories.

The short verdict

The official store copy says every bullet is simulated and lets players see its individual hit chance. That is not the same as removing randomness. The game rolls each projectile against the displayed chance, while the resulting bullet still travels through the battlefield.

What “no hidden RNG” means in practice

The useful distinction is transparency. Warhounds shows the chance attached to each bullet in a burst rather than hiding one combined weapon roll. You can inspect the risk before committing action points, but a percentage below 100% remains probabilistic.

Official burst example

The official feature description illustrates a three-round burst with descending chances:

ProjectileDisplayed chancePractical reading
Bullet 1100%Guaranteed by the displayed shooting roll
Bullet 290%A high-probability roll, not a guarantee
Bullet 380%A lower independent projectile chance

RNG and true ballistics are separate systems

The hit-chance roll answers whether the projectile follows an aimed hit solution. Ballistics then gives the bullet a path through the scene. A miss can continue past the intended target and hit another object or unit, including a friendly. This is why positioning behind a target is part of shot evaluation.

How to use this information

  • Read every projectile percentage before choosing a burst.
  • Check what sits behind the target, not only the target itself.
  • Spend action points on a better angle when later bullets fall sharply in accuracy.
  • Treat overwatch cones and friendly-fire lanes as geometry problems as well as probability problems.

Source standard

This page uses official Warhounds store and feature descriptions for the mechanical claims. It does not treat the slogan “No RNG – total control” as proof that all random rolls were removed.
